I’m back with a style edit post and the focus is on the eyelet trend. As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, I generally like this trend however some items can look very tacky so I decided to have a look online to see what’s out there. This was also a good excuse to just sit down and look through hundreds of items just in case I find something that’s totally unrelated but nice.
As always, I didn’t have the time or the desire to check every single high street retailer’s website but I chose the main brands I usually shop with, such as Zara, Mango, Bershka, H&M, Stradivarius, etc. I would say Zara embraced the trend the best therefore about a half of the items I selected to include here are from them.
Just to mention, the item 2 which is a white lace up skirt from Mango does not have eyelets in it however I still wanted to include it as I thought that side detail was quite nice.
I am getting sick of myself for liking these same kinda dresses. Slightly different lenght, slightly different lace or just slightly different materials and I like them all. And they’re in every store right now.
Winter can be gloomy with its lack of colours unless some designer feels rebellous with their collection so we might then see some orange or magenta in the middle of the winter and the high street brands will get inspired too. Otherwise it’s the same black and grey and navy.
I am wearing all black again with a tiny hint of red on my earrings. I like this dress both loose and belted but I decided to add a waist belt to the outfit because of its suble shine. I feel like this outfit has a bit of a “WWII fashion meets grunge” feel to it.
I’ve got an all black outfit today. I usually try not to wear all black but when I do, I at least put different textures and fabrics together so in here I’ve got a sheer fabric with polka dots, leather look leggings and fake leather boots and a backpack. Many people think that wearing black makes you look instantly very stylish however the way I see it, it’s the safe way of dressing up as it’s way more difficult to style colours and prints. I am occasionally guilty of this myself though and as a lover of colours and prints I do own way too many black clothes. Must be something to do with how aesthetically appealing black clothes can look, I guess.
My most recent trip to clothing stores gave me the idea of the main trends currently there so one of them is definitely sheer dresses and sheer materials in general used as details or solely as pieces of clothing. I have to say I’ve always liked it so I’ve got a choice of it now even though seeing it in every store gets kind of boring.
I think I like sheers because I can layer things up underneath or over it creating different shapes. In this outfit I am even using a swimsuit because I like the extra lines it’s adding to the outfit. I sometimes wear something not according to its intended purpose as a fashion accessory because why not if I feel like it is adding something to the whole look? 😀
Oh and by the way, I learned a new fashion related word to better describe the polka dots on the dress:
: a fine lightweight dress fabric of cotton, wool, or rayon that is woven with raised dots or figures on a plain background producing a feathery or embroidered effect
